Hagar Project (Nari Niketon)

The Hagar Project provides a safe shelter for women affected by leprosy and other challenges in the Rangpur Division of Bangladesh. Located in Nazirer Hat, Rangpur, our center offers support to women who have faced various forms of adversity, including those with children, creating pathways to successful community reintegration.

This project aims to provide a transformative opportunities and healing for women affected by leprosy including vulnerable children and women in the Rangpur Division, enabling them to reintegrate into their communities. The Hagar center offers a safe and nurturing environment for up to 12 women and their children. The services include -safe accommodation, emotional support, individual counseling and crisis intervention, medical assistance and healthcare support, skill development training, Legal aid assistance when needed, support for community reintegration, child adoption services when requested etc.  Some of the significant achievements are successful reintegration into their communities within 9 months, facilitated 16 successful child adoptions, supported 19 women with legal cases, with 5 cases successfully resolved, provided vocational training and life skills education, established partnerships with other NGOs for long-term support etc.
