PURPOSE OF THIS RESEARCH STRATEGY

This document sets out our strategy for strengthening the role of research evidence in our programmes and advocacy as well as the role of our organisation in the global research agenda.
The document aims to provide TLMI-Bangladesh’s staff, partner organisations and wider stakeholders with a clear understanding of why we are committed to research, our strategic goals and priorities in the next five years; and our plans for delivering these to high standards.

Research is one of the TLMI-B country strategy’s outcomes and a key thematic area. This research strategy will contribute the TLMI-B towards achieving its goal.

The following research priority areas have been identified based on:

  • local and global leprosy issues
  • history and capabilities of TLMIB team and
  • contributing factors of triple zero

To achieve the impact we desire, we will invest in four key areas in order to implement high quality research:

  1. CAPACITY AND CULTURE: TLMI-B has increased capacity and adequate skilled personnel with the leprosy competencies required. Ability to lead/co-lead as well as be a valued partner in international studies.
  2. MAINSTREAMING AND PARTNERSHIPS: The entire organization recognizes the importance of research thinking. Research incorporated in different programs, other partner organizations and universities. Research partnerships increased.
  3. DISSEMINATION: Research findings shared via different platforms for knowledge sharing or further studies.
  4. TRANSLATION: Research findings lead to change in TLM and GoB policy and practice.
