Community Based Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities and Mainstreaming (CBRM)

Empowering communities through inclusive development in North West Bangladesh

By building strong community networks through Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and local associations, the Community Based Rehabilitation and Mainstreaming project works to improve the quality of life for the people affected by leprosy and disabilities in four sub-districts of Dinajpur District. The project is focused on empowering individuals to access the rights and achieve better socio-economic conditions.

The project aims to establish 60 thriving Self-Help Groups across 4 sub-districts, create 4 effective Upazila associations supporting SHGs, increase awareness of disability laws among government representatives, develop and document a replicable model for inclusive community development by 2025.

CBRM project empowers individuals with the persons affected by leprosy and disabilities by fostering community-led development.  The SHGs and District Disabled People’s Organizations (DPOs) enables marginalized people to unite and advocate for their rights, bring social change by stopping discriminatory attitudes, provides necessary assistances to the vulnerable individuals, raise voice for enjoying human rights and building a resilient community.
